THE GREAT IMAGINING AFRICA EARTHDAY
Overview
Engaging students in climate action is vital for creating a sustainable future. By incorporating climate change into the curriculum, establishing student-led initiatives, providing real-life experiences, and leveraging technology, we can empower students to become agents of change.
We aim to foster a sense of responsibility, inspire creativity, and instil a lifelong commitment to climate action in our students. Together, we can create a brighter and greener future for generations to come.
During the earth week Encourage students to discuss their work together in a frank but friendly manner. We get good ideas by bouncing them off other people and help them establish an atmosphere where criticism is possible without causing offence. This implies creating a ‘storied class that promotes students’ relationship with the environment. We are raising awareness and inspiring action to tackle the various environmental challenges facing our planet.
On our earth day activation at Makerere art gallery, a group of students will come and work with African visual artists and Taibah international school on what might be possible with a collaboration between The Great Imagining, and their school community.
We will teach and encourage collegiate iterative collaborative practice with builders as well as end users to give participants confidence in systems thinking. which allows new regenerative ideas to emerge and use imagination to think about the future to empower action in the present how to understand ecosystems and the universe as a series of nested systems to use imagination to think about the future to empower action in the present.
We will also Encourage outdoor activities that promote a connection with nature, such as, gardening, to Foster a sense of awe and appreciation for the environment by allowing students to experience its beauty firsthand.
The great imagining Africa will host several activities in Uganda, Tanzania, and Nigeria respectively. We are working with the community to support and amplify their journey to net zero.
